more general information

The coal processing plant is the beating heart of the former Beringen mining site. The challenges of finding a new future for this unique piece of industrial heritage are big, and the future of the protected monument is uncertain.

Ten national and international photographers shed light on the conservation and repurposing of this impressive mining heritage. With more than 120 photos of coal processing plants in Belgium and abroad, they feed the debate about this heritage. What future does the coal washing industry have?
